Cake & Bake Show London 7-9th Oct 2016

cake and bake showSarah SibleyLast weekend the Cake & Bake Show rolled into London and it was one of the best yet! It was lovely to meet so many of you on my stand as it’s always nice to put a face to a name or Twitter / Instagram handle. I did my best to make sure you could all recognise me 😉

And those of you who did visit me will have seen the fabulous prize bundle I was giving away, that was put together with a bit of help from my lovely sponsors, Renshaw, Foodie Flavours & Homepride. 1267 people entered the draw over the course of the weekend and the lucky winner, drawn at 4pm on Sunday was Anne Hughes from Crawley.

A personal highlight for me was the awesome BFG showpiece on display at the front of the show. It was made by my incredibly talented friend Jacqui Kelly of Totally Sugar in association with Cake Decoration & Sugarcraft Magazine and the detail on it was absolutely breathtaking. Jacqui used 34Kg of Sugar Paste, 12kg of marzipan, 4 kg of chocolate, 3kg of Rice Krispie and 2kg of marshmallows to make the huge head. You can see the scale of him against Jacqui and Leeanne Cooper, the magazine’s editor in the first picture and just look at the detail of the pores on his nose and the reflection in his eyes in the second!

Another big highlight of the show was all of the brilliant celebrity bakers demonstrating in the Super Theatre. I didn’t get time to catch many of them as I was manning my stand all weekend, but I did manage to see bit of Nadiya Hussein & Eric Lanlard.

And finally, as is tradition, I took photos of all of the competition entries, many of which were absolutely stunning! The theme of which was Myths, Legends & Fairytales.

Best in Show was this amazing ‘Dragon Warrior’ cake by Zahir Rathod.
